Evensong

The third of Saint James' Evensong services was held on Sunday 14 March. In addition to the choir, about 35 people attended, including a number from other parishes in the Ottawa area. Central to the music of the service are the Magnificat ('My soul doth magnify the Lord...') and the Nunc Dimittis ('Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace...') Under the direction of organist Wayne Whitney, the choir has successfully added these canticles to its repertoire. Both bass Hugh Best (crucifer in the photo below) and tenor Larry Moulds have acted as cantors over the past three months. While Evensong was initiated as an experiment, we hope to add it as a permanent part of the service schedule of the parish.
