A Choral
Celebration Hugh Best's lifelong vocation as a chorister began in 1933, and he has sung as a bass in church choirs since 1944. A pillar of the Saint James' choir for decades (former president and now the librarian), he provides leadership, liberally laced with cheer and good humour - as well as one of the choir's best voices. On Ascension Sunday, 28 May, in honour of Hugh's 73 years as a chorister, the music at the 10am service comprised his own favourites - and obviously those of many parishioners, as the service bulletin below shows.
