The Synod of the Diocese of Ottawa was held on 24, 25 October at the Navcan facility in Cornwall. Four delegates represented Saint James' Church: Marion Fleming, Marg McGowan, Mark Monette and Spruce Riordon (Father Rick was acting as spiritual director at a Cursillo retreat, and so was unable to attend). The Bishop's Charge included the topics of the residential school settlement, homelessness, care of the environment, and financial stewardship. These and related items were discussed in subsequent plenary sessions, as well as seminars. A more complete report will be available in the December Epistle.
