My Dear Abimael
Greetings from Manotick and St.James Anglican Church. On behalf of our Jubillee
2000 Committee and our congregation accept our best wishes to all our family there in the
Amazon. We wish you one and all a Happy Christmas and Peace and Joy in the New Year.
I have enclosed a cheque for the U.S. dollar equivalent of $4623.99 Canadian made
out to "Igreja Episcopal Anglicana do Brasil" in hope that it will assist in
ensuring the restoration of the roof of St.Lucas Church. To Rev Daniel and everyone in
your area we wish would could do more and perhaps we shall. Having a goal and purpose for
such a project to help you has truly helped us to come together and get know each other a
little better while enjoying an evening dedicated to helping others.
We thank you for being so encouraging and praying for us and your kind gifts. I
hope we shall continue to stay in touch and share our love and faith together.
With Love and Best wishes from your Canadian Friends in Manotick and St.James'
Church.

Frank received this reply at Christmas:
My Dear Frank,
My computer it was broken again, so i was unable to write to you, sorry my
silence. With much joy I received your letter and the check which you have sent. We
immediately contacted Father Daniel and the congregation at St. Luke`s Church, since then
they haven`t stopped giving thanks to God for this great blessing and for the lives of
each one of you. That same day we sent the check to the secretary of Province to be
register and be changed (cambio), and after they sent back immediately to St. Luke.
The reconstruction will begin January 2. The people`s Warden, Luis Fernando of St.
Luke`s told me `Without any doubt, it was the best Christmas that our church received in
20 years`.Every congregation is full of joy for this blessing that you have given to the
loved ones at St. Lucas.
Our prayer is that our Lord cover everyone with all blessings, you all,
especially, Penny, Mark, Vicki, Jarret, were angels that God has sent in our lives, are
true blessings of God in our lives. I received you letter wrote December 15 too , i
loved the pictures. The snow, it`s so beautiful, , i can`t imagine how is the feeling,
It`s look like a dream.
All your anglican`s brothers and sisters in the Amazon wish you, and all the
family of St. James, and Manotick village A MERRY CHRISTMAS and A new year of love and
Peace of our Lord.
Take Care,
Rev. Abimael Rodrigues.
A letter in the spring of
2001:
Dear Frank,
Sorry for my too long silence. I hope that
you and your family are fine. My computer is still out of order, and for now
I'll use this email address stmaria@nautilus.com.br,
soon I will send my own address.
Recently we received a bright visit from Canada, Rev. Philip Wadden
accompanied by our general secretary Rev. Mauricio Andrade. Rev. Philip
visited our congregations including St. Luke and he saw the work that was
only possible by the donation that you have sent to us. Again i must say
that the donation to St. Luke's repairs was a great blessing. The money was
really used to build pillars and new walls as suggested by the engineer
before constructing the roof. The fact is the old structure was really weak.
At the same time the owner of the apartment where Rev. Daniel lived asked
for it. So St. Luke's congregation decided to build a priest's house behind
the church with some other money along with yours. They are very happy
because this money brought hope and motivation for them.
The work advanced slowly because of the
constant rain. Here it's raining a lot now, it's our winter, when the heavy
and constantly rain fall and there is much lighting across the sky followed
by the roaring of thunders. During this month the level of the river rose
almost five meters and in some places it was possible to see the water of
the river and that of the sea reach together, we called "POROROCA".
We are living a real war against the
transmitting mosquito of - dengue - the 'aedes egipts'and some cases of
malaria. Many brothers and sisters were sick, by dengue.
Dayse has been sick for two weeks. She had high fever, body pains and now
she has red blotches on her skin and itching. Talita has a cold, and Tiago
is fine.
I asked Alicia to call you to get your email
address because i was hoarse for about two weeks and i really lost my voice.
I'm sorry to call you so very early the last time i talked to you on the
phone. I didn't realize it was so early there. I hope father Rick is well.
Do you have some news from Jarrett? Here we continue work as possible. There
was the 1º General Council meeting of the District of the Amazon on 28 th -
30 th April. On Sunday the St. Mary's church was crowded with members of
each Parish and mission. Fifty - seven person were confirmed or accepted in
the Anglican communion. It was a very special moment. I'm so excited because
our congregation at Holy Trinity and St. Mary's are getting voluntary
doctors, social welfare , lawyers, teachers for illiterates and weak
students.
I continue dreaming about the day you will
visit us in Belém.
I hope receive some letter soon,
Take Care,
Abimael
